Onitsuka Tiger Fabre 74 VC Trainers

HONEY-YELLOW/GREY/BLUE

LEATHER

FABRE is a word derived from the Fast Break move in basketball and it became a generic name for Onitsuka Tiger basketball products. The low-tops basketball shoes, FABRE-BL were released in 1974. These shoes received extensive fame and notoriety in Japan as Dave Cowens, the NBA MVP of 1973, wore them during an NBA All Star tour in 1975 and 1976. Special features of the FABRE 74 include the legendary ’octopus’ sole pattern, created by Mr. Onitsuka and inspired by his octopus salad.

This is the velcro version of the Fabre 74, a low-top basketball model. In the 70’s early 1980’s, long before skateboard shoes had been developed, many skateboarders in California were wearing Tiger basketball shoes instead. The main feature of this street shoe is its large velcro strap which was developed for the skateboard scene of the 1980’s.
